The Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution will hold simultaneous public hearings across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones on July 4 and 5 to gather citizens’ views on proposed constitutional amendments.
The hearings—scheduled for Lagos, Enugu, Ikot Ekpene, Jos, Maiduguri and Kano—will cover major reform areas including local government autonomy, state police, judicial reforms, and gender equity.
Senator Barau Jibrin, who chairs the committee, said the move signals a renewed effort to make the Constitution more inclusive and reflective of national aspirations.
